Happy Women's Day!

I've always lived in a matriarchal society. The women in my family have always been strong-willed and formidable. I've always been surrounded by women, extraordinary women. The good thing about getting older is that you become more selective about who you work with and who you spend your free time with. And in recent years, I've surrounded myself with some truly exceptional women, whom I want to honor here, especially since International Women's Day is just around the corner.

My team: we are 11 women, and we're worth 111. I mean it. And what's more, they are all good daughters, good mothers (those who are mothers), good wives/partners, good people, and exceptional professionals. I pinch myself every morning. I'm telling you how I feel.

My friends: my treasure. Some I've known since we were eight, others since we were sixteen, and many since we were over forty. Many of them women I met at work, and without whom life wouldn't be half as interesting or rich. I adore them.

A few days ago, my mother celebrated her 80th birthday, and we threw her a surprise party. Seeing her surrounded by her 15 friends made me think: what an important support it is to have a network of women around us. It's not easy to achieve, but it's important to work towards it. Because without the support of this female network, life is much harder.

If you also have extraordinary women in your life, and you want to express your appreciation with flowers, here are several wonderful gift options. We'll be delivering on Sunday morning, but it's important that you place your order by 11 am on Saturday, otherwise we won't have time to fulfill it (we're closed on Sundays).

And having said that, I would also like to take advantage of this small forum so that none of us forget why International Women's Day has to exist:

“While there has been progress globally regarding gender equality through the Millennium Development Goals (including equal access for girls and boys to primary education), women and girls continue to suffer discrimination and violence in all parts of the world.
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but also the necessary foundation for achieving a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.” UN Sustainable Development Goals

Happy International Women's Day to all the extraordinary women who read me every day, many of you for many years.
Thank you for your continued support.
