The life of the store post-Covid19

Some of you may have read and heard me on Instagram these past few months. It's not really worth going into detail about how I've been feeling and what I've done to get out of my own personal tunnel (not a well!), though. It's all there. But perhaps you do want to know how things are at Sally Hambleton and what we can expect from now on. Although I'm not entirely sure, because too many important things are still unclear. What is clear, however, is that so many people have lost their lives. I don't like the "everything will be alright" mentality. I'm an optimist by nature, and I'm sure we've all learned something. But I just think we've paid a very high price for this learning. And I wish it had never happened. Not to mention the situation of so many families who have lost all their income and don't even have enough to eat. I'll tell you more about this on Instagram.

Our current situation in SALLY HAMBLETON is more or less normal, with a few exceptions and some new developments:

  • The physical store is open to the public, but we can only serve customers one at a time because the store is small and there are many of us working inside. And the use of face masks is mandatory for everyone.

  • We've reduced our opening hours: we're closing one hour earlier. We're open from 10am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays. We're closed on Sundays.

  • As a result of the lockdown, and following a request I made on Instagram—for donations of surplus flowers from Spanish growers, who were throwing away entire crops, to make arrangements and deliver them to nursing homes in Madrid—I made several excellent contacts and decided to launch a new product: a selection of Spanish flowers in boxes—unarranged—for delivery throughout Spain. And we're thrilled with the result. They're 100% Spanish flowers. We want to do our small part to help the sector recover. You can buy them here .

  • Sally's FLOWER SCHOOL is currently closed. We have several online workshops available on the CONDÉ NAST COLLEGE eLearning platform, VOGUE SHOTS . We plan to reopen in the fall, but we need to see how things develop. We are available to offer remote online workshops upon request at flowerschool@sallyhambleton.com .

  • Our studio is also closed for corporate events, but it will reopen in the fall, if all goes well. This is actually convenient for us, as we're currently using it exclusively as a photography studio.

  • We're not currently booking weddings or events, but we'd love to create bridal bouquets. Call us to schedule an appointment: 915624709. We'd be delighted to help you.

  • We've cancelled our summer pop-up shop. But… the products we'd bought especially for it arrived the day before the lockdown. So we're working flat out on the online store to offer them there, in a new section called SH HOME (very original! ;-). And what's more, everything will be available for shipping throughout the Iberian Peninsula.

  • We've launched a new handbag collection with Zubi. Today. And I'm SO EXCITED. You might remember that we released our first collection in 2018, featuring my house and garden in the countryside, called "Aguarriba." And now the stars are flowers! So we've called it " FLOWERS ." Three designs and two sizes. They're a burst of joy and optimism, which is exactly what I need right now. I hope you love them as much as I do.

If you have any suggestions, questions, or need to talk to us, you know you can always do so by calling or writing to the store. My Instagram isn't very reliable. I manage it myself and I usually only check DMs or comments once a day. And I can't always reply.

Thank you for all your support during this time—the messages of encouragement I received truly touched and lifted my spirits—and thank you especially for supporting us with your purchases. It's what we need to keep going. THANK YOU.
