GREENERY 15-0343

I can't think of a better way to return to the Blog than with a post about one of my New Year's resolutions, which I have already implemented: to fill my house and work area with natural plants again.

A few months ago, I stumbled across a NASA report from 1989 that reached a conclusion that opened my eyes: plants have the power to purify the air around us. The air we breathe in big cities is often not free of toxic substances, and some plants help filter out that toxicity.

Obviously, this isn't a cure-all! And I suppose that, to completely filter the air in our homes and offices, we might have to turn them into greenhouses. But that's not the point either. However, this report (here's the article from the BBC Where I read it: it gave me food for thought.

Then, before the end of the year, @pantone announced that the color for 2017 would be " GREENERY 15-0343 "

One more drop in the glass of my ideas (!) to put me in the direction I seem to be looking for: investing in communicating and offering an assortment of indoor plants with characteristics that are very necessary for me and I think for the vast majority of mortals: that they are easy to care for.

And finally, the huge success we had with the plants we displayed in one of the pop-up shops we did this Christmas: Paper & Greens with my dear friends of Save the Date Project and my dear friend Lucia M. Yours feedback Those days were crucial in making me realize that my interest in the subject was not exclusive to me.

I often mention that I'm really a frustrated gardener, and that, lacking a garden in my city, I surround myself with flowers! Nature brings me peace and serenity. And the gardens I like are those that recreate—to some extent—nature.

It's impossible to compare a garden to an indoor space with plants. But having them nearby, having to take care of them (although I always choose those that require little attention), and watching them grow, gives me a little of what a garden does.

I always say that I learn a lot from my years collaborating with fashion and interior design magazines. And it's true. In the end, a wedding shoot is very similar to styling for a photo shoot, for example. And to give you an idea of what I mean: in 2015 I did a shoot with AD Spain , styled by Pete Bermejo and photographed by Manolo Yllera, featured an article on decorating with plants. It was published in May 2015. Here's the video. Making of :

And the truth is, I've never had any houseplants, either at home or in shops, apart from a few orchids and succulents (I've always loved succulents). I always said that plants don't grow in caves. But wouldn't you know it, I've been changing my mind lately! (I'm a woman full of contradictions ;-))

So I am delighted to present to you the new indoor plant section that I have created in our space at El Corte Inglés in Castellana (you know, next to the Gourmet area):

We await you with a great selection of plants and a variety of sizes (sometimes it is difficult to find large plants in the city center), special planters and even tools for their care and the mythical English watering cans from Haws and the water sprayer (something fundamental with the very dry environment we have in Madrid).

In the coming weeks I will be sharing information about my favorite plants and their care.

Until next time! And thanks for reading.
