We've grown up

When a project is born spontaneously, in your living room, and you can't quite explain how it happened… there are many things you leave behind, or you simply do them yourself as best you can when the need arises, because it never even crosses your mind to commission someone else to do it for you. That's how THE WORKSHOP FLORES was born. For nine years, we've been patching up the needs that have come up: “well, we'll need a name,” “business cards,” “a location,” “signage for the shop,” “aprons,” and so on and so forth.

As you get things moving, you meet people, other businesses, other professionals… and if you have time to “stop and analyze,” you realize that there are many aspects of your business that can be improved, or even significantly improved. A poor self-employed entrepreneur has little money left to invest in intangibles (at first glance!), such as communication and corporate image. We already have enough to deal with just getting by day to day, with everything that entails. But I've been mulling this over for years, and a few months ago I took the plunge and decided it was time not only to update our website but also our online store.

If I had decided this nine years ago, I would have asked some friend to help me out for a pittance. But that would have been just another temporary fix, so I decided to put myself in the hands of real professionals, the kind you can say to: “Here’s my baby… do with it as you would if it were your own.” And that’s how it all started. WOZ'ERE in my life. We'd been... how long, Sofi? Two years talking about it? It wasn't an easy decision due to internal issues, but in the end... I got my way! And here it is: our new corporate image and our new online store.

As you can see… we've changed our name. THE WORKSHOP FLORES will always be a part of us, but we had a problem with WORKSHOP, because it's a very generic name, and many people use it to name their courses or workshops. And it's not something we could make our own.

On the other hand, the vast majority of our in-person customers (not the online ones) were talking about "Sally." "I bought these flowers at Sally's," or "Sally decorated this wedding." It was hard to associate "Sally" with "The Workshop Flowers." Anyway... what a mess!

So, I suppose, as with everything, there will be all sorts of opinions, but the Woz'Ere team and I decided that the new name would represent us better, in a more personal way, and that we would now be called SALLY L. HAMBLETON for THE WORKSHOP FLORES . Whether you like it or not, the responsibility is all mine! So… fire away! What do you think? I'd love to hear your first impressions.

We've grown up... and our new corporate image and online store represent us much better. I hope you like it as much as I do!
